Our Cause: Hometown Health Grants

Founded in 2021, The Bonner General Health Hometown Health Grants program funds internal grants for hospital and clinic needs not covered under the current budget. Last year (2024), Bonner General Health Foundation awarded $35,423.12 in grants. In 2025, we awarded $31,468.31 in grants. This program is possible because of the generosity of employees and the community participating in the Find Your Strength Fun Run in June.

A few of the grants funded in 2025 thanks to the Foundation and those who support the Fun Run:

  • Emergency Dept Central Station Monitor: For patient visits and monitoring patients from central point.
  • Hospice Educational Booklets: Gone From My Sight, a compassionate end-of-life educational booklet by Barbara Karnes, RN. This resource has proven invaluable for improving patient and family experiences during hospice care. The dying process can be overwhelming, leaving loved ones uncertain, afraid, and unprepared.
  • Ultrasound & Laser System for Rehabilitation Services: This highly used piece of equipment provides advanced electrotherapy, ultrasound, and laser interventions for patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and pain-related conditions.
  • Rock Steady Boxing: Rehabilitation Program for Parkinson’s patients.
  • Poison Prevention Program: Overview: Equip children with the knowledge to identify everyday poisons & encouraging them to ‘stay away’. The positive feedback from teachers and students, underscores the values.

Today, the Foundation has granted $150,000 to BGH Departments.

By supporting our Fun Run, each dollar goes directly back into the Hometown Health Grants initiative, which supports the hospital departments who care for our community.
