Our Cause: Hometown Health Grants
In 2021, the Bonner General Health Foundation introduced a new program to further support our local hospital. The Hometown Health Grants program provides money for internal grants for hospital or clinic needs not covered under the current budget.
The Hometown Health Grants awarded in 2024 included:
- Poison Prevention Program: Our pharmacy team created this program to educate elementary students about common poisons and ways to identify and avoid them. This year, the program reached 757 students across the district through 29 presentations, and the team hopes to continue this program next year.
- Rock Steady Boxing: a program at Performance Therapy Services that allows participants with Parkinson’s disease to work on core strength, balance, and cognitive training with trained coaches. The grant provided for the purchase of more punching bags and Juke stirs.
- Reach Out and Read: The Family Practice Clinic started this program to help ensure every child has the health foundation they need – cognitively, socially, and emotionally. During well-child visits, providers start the visit by giving the child a new, developmentally appropriate book to take home.
Today, the Foundation has granted $120,000 to BGH Departments.
By supporting our Fun Run, each dollar goes directly back into the Hometown Health Grants initiative, which supports the hospital departments who care for our community.
